Stage 4 - Wambuul Wanders

About this excursion

An excursion centred around place and liveability, including Geography fieldwork components. Students walk around the Tracker Riley Cycleway and reflect on their connection to the river.

They will discuss whose responsibility it is to care for the river corridor, learn about aspects of liveability and design a proposal to capitalise on the uses of the river precinct.

Students finish the day focussing on community with a team challenge at the fitness park

Focus:

The purpose of this excursion is to provide students with an opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of interconnections between people , places and a local Dubbo environment

Excursion activities

Your student meet with Wambangalang teachers at a predetermined riveside location.

Students are given the opportunity reflect on their own connections with the Macquarie-Wambuul River and being their wander along the Tracker Riley Cycleway.

Students observe human interactions and impact with this area. They consider who holds the responsibility for caring for public spaces and natural resources.

Students discuss the Macquarie River Master plan and have a go at making their own plan to increase liveability in this area.

Student enjoy their packed lunch on the banks of the river before learning how a community group contributed to the building the fitness park.

The wander concludes with your students participating in games and team challenges on the firness equipment.

  • NSW DoE School - $15 per student

  • Non-Government and Independent schools - $700 per Wambangalang teacher.

    *Please note that larger groups may require more than 1 Wambangalang teacher.
