Stage 2 - Living World and Life Cycles - Overnight Camp

About this excursion
Students investigate plants and animals, learning about their classification, their amazing life-cycles, and how they are connected within ecosystems. Students will learn to use microscopes, and will summarise their learning by producing a short video.
This program is completed as a two-day (one night) camp, with time allocated for schools to choose two additional activities from the "Environmental Connections" program.
Focus:
The purpose of this excursion is to provide students with opportunities to investigate plants and animals, learning about their classification, their amazing life-cycles, and how they are connected within ecosystems. Students will learn to use microscopes.

Cost:

NSW DoE School - $15 per student per day + $5 per student per night. A 2 day 1 night excursion is $35 per student.

Non-Government and Independent schools - $700 per Wambangalang teacher per day + $5 per student per night.
*Please note that larger groups may require more than 1 Wambangalang teacher.
Learning intentions/Syllabus links
Students will know that:
- Living things are different to dead things and non-living things (ACSSU044 ).
- Different living things have different life cycles (ACSSU072).
Students will understand:
- How living things depend on each other and the environment to survive (ACSSU073).
- How the life cycles of different organisms are similar and different (Living World Inquiry Question ).
Students will be able to:
- Collect data and identify patterns, to group living things according to their external features, and distinguish them from non-living things (ACSSU044, ST2-4LW-S).
- Collect and record accurate, honest observations using labelled observational drawings and digital technologies as appropriate (ACSIS055, ACSIS066, ST2-1WS-S).
