Stage 5 - Ludology - 2-night camp
“Failure doesn’t mean the game is over, it means try again with experience”
About this excursion
A deep dive into the theory, mechanics, experience and unique aspects of games. Wambangalang has engaged you as expert ludologists to evaluate and improve some of their longstanding games.
Excursion activities
On the first afternoon your students are welcomed to the centre and settled into their dorms.
You can choose to supply your own afternoon and evening activities or let a WEEC teacher led a night session (additional costs apply)
Over the next 2 days your students will be playing, leading, evaluating, and suggesting improvements to several games that we play at Wambangalang.
They will be given the chance to choose one initiative game to redesign, to better achieve its agreed aim. Your students then teach and explain the improvements they made and why to the group.
They will also engage in several skill-based bike games aimed at developing specific bike riding skills. They rate the effectiveness of these games in achieving these outcomes and get to redesign components as they see fit.
After each game, other students reflect on the changes and can suggest further improvements if appropriate.
