Facilities
The Wambangalang Environmental Education Centre (WEEC) has a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces to support learning in nature. We offer safe and comfortable areas for hands-on activities, group work and overnight stays.
We can accommodate students and staff in 2 dormitories, a separate caravan and for a real "camp" experience tents.
Our site also has a fully equipped kitchen, dining hall, accessible bathroom, showers and laundry.
Check out WEEC site information (PDF 1.1MB) for a full list of everything on offer to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible.
Please note: due to our rural location, mobile service reception can be extremely patchy, please consider that you may have limited service during your time here.
Our local environment
Wambangalang is located 27kms from Dubbo in Central West NSW. Our school site encompasses a box-gum grassy woodlands area that once covered the region. Our surrounding environment takes in Wambangalang creek, Turtle Rock and the Wambuul-Macquarie River.
These natural spaces are part of our everyday learning. Students can explore:
- walking tracks and bush trails
- habitats for native plants and animals
- model wetlands, local creeks and the Wambuul-Macquarie River
- places with cultural or historical meaning.
We use these outdoor spaces to help students learn about nature and sustainability.
Our learning spaces
We have both indoor and outdoor spaces to support learning in all weather conditions.
At our centre, we offer:
- outdoor areas for hands-on activities
- indoor classrooms for lessons and group work
- access to walking trails and nearby bushland
These spaces let students learn by doing and connect with the natural world around them.
